Doyle False Teaching: Jesus was JUST A MAN.
Truth: Jesus was a man born of the seed of David & Abraham and had the likeness of sinful flesh BUT He never sinned. He was fashioned as a man to be the mediator for mankind but He was God the Son.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let US (The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
Exodus 3:13 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14. And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’
John 8:21 Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come.” 22. So the Jews said, “Will He kill Himself, because He says, ‘Where I go you cannot come’?” 23. And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.”25. Then they said to Him, “Who are You?” And Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning. (Jesus was saying that He was God) 26. I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him.”
The same I AM (God) in the Greek is used in John 8:24.
Doyle False Teaching: Jesus was not God
Truth: Jesus is the Lord God! In the beginning was the Word, Jesus is the Word.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. (What more do you need? This scripture alone proves Jesus was God, but I will continue on.) 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
John 1:14 And THE WORD (Jesus, which was GOD) BECAME FLESH and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. 15. John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’”
Revelation 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
1 John 5:6 This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, THE WORD, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.
Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2. who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house. 3. For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. 4. For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God (Jesus). 5. And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6. but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end,
Collisions 1:16 For by Him (Jesus Christ the Lord GOD) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things HE may have THE PREEMINENCE. (Yes, Jesus may have preeminence!)
Matthew 26:53 “Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels? (The answer was YES for He was God the Son.)
More Proof that Jesus was God for He was worshipped as God since BIRTH.
Matthew 2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11.And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and WORSHIPPED HIM (This was not sin for Jesus to be worshipped, or do you think these worshippers were sinning? Answer this question before you continue to read. *Were these worshippers sinning, by worshipping Jesus? Seriously! Do not continue reading until you answer the question. {Music from the game show Jeopardy}: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
Proof Jesus was God and NOT JUST A MAN according to Scripture:
Luke 8:38 Now the man from whom the demons had departed begged Him that he might be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return to your own house, and tell what great things God has done for you.” And he went his way and proclaimed throughout the whole city what great things Jesus (God the Son) had done for him. This man knew Jesus was God, PRAISE GOD!
Doyle False Doctrine: Doyle taught this man in Luke 8 was disobedient by saying he did not do as instructed. That this man was instructed to say what great things GOD did for him and the man INSTEAD reported what Jesus had done for him.
Truth: This man was NOT WRONG, or disobedient! Jesus is God the Son and this man knew it, PRAISE GOD! If Jesus allowed people to worship Him and He was not God, that would mean that Jesus was consenting to IDOLATRY. This is ludicrous!!!
Luke 19:37. Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and Praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!” Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” (He accepted their worship) 39. And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” 40. But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” *Were these worshippers sinning, by worshipping Jesus? NO!
John 9:38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he WORSHIPPED HIM. (It was acceptable to Worship Jesus. Why? Not because He was just a man, but because He was God in the Flesh!)
Matthew 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Matthew 14:32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33. Then they that were in the ship came and WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
Matthew 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25. Then came she and WORSHIPPED HIM, saying, Lord, help me. 26. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. 28. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. *Notice he did not correct her; he received her worship.
